Opened in January 2005, Loyola University’s Emerging Technologies Laboratory was created to provide a place and equipment where both faculty and students can engage in cutting-edge research relevant to the Computer Science field.

Some of the equipment we have on the lab is:
  • desktop compuers running Linux (and selected OSs)
  • 16-node cluster
  • Dell PowerEdge 1950 server farm and 10 TB Direct Attached Storage (DAS)
  • Low-end computing cluster for volunteer computing and BOINC
We also have a growing number of experimental platforms, including
  • PlayStation/3 for Cell/GPU explorations
  • more to come soon
The ETL also maintains its own Coffee Center utilizing the Nespresso pod system.
